For Missouri EMS professionals looking to enhance their pediatric skills, now is your chance!

The Missouri Emergency Medical Services for Children Advisory Committee of the federal Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program is sponsoring the first annual pediatric seminar at the Capital Plaza in Jefferson City on February 19, 2009.

“The seminar promises to be very interesting, beneficial and affordable,” says Paula Adkison, EMSC Program Manager for the State of Missouri.

EMSC wants to bring pediatric care to pre-hospital and hospital professionals as part of its overall mission to support projects that expand and improve emergency medical services for children who need treatment for life threatening illnesses or injuries.

LifeFlight Eagle Partners with New Aviation Operator – PHI PDF Print E-mail
January 1, 2008, marks the beginning of a new era for LifeFlight Eagle as we initiate a brand new relationship with a new air operator, Petroleum Helicopters Incorporated (PHI), based in Lafayette, Louisiana. 
 
To be clear, while LifeFlight Eagle nurses and paramedics are actually employees of our nonprofit company, the pilots and mechanics that serve the program are employees of the air operator.  Our previous air operator recently went through a corporate merger, right at the time our contract came to its natural end.  This caused us to take a step back and research our options.

Tragedy and Triumph – Clay Radford’s Story of Survival PDF Print E-mail

At around 8 pm on March 24, 2007, Clay Radford (20) joined friends Mindy Ryles and Aimee Kaiser on a drive from Clinton to Warrensburg. The three were longtime friends at Clinton High School.  Clay graduated in 2005 and the girls were graduating seniors. Aimee was driving Mindy’s 2006 Mustang with Mindy in the front passenger seat and Clay in the back seat. The plan had been to see a movie later that night.

Missouri DHSS Adds Disaster Preparedness Focus PDF Print E-mail

As Missouri DHSS continues to develop its statewide emergency response plan, added attention is turning toward disaster preparedness planning.  Recently, DHSS decided to create a new Task Force on Disaster Planning much the same way it formed the very successful Time Critical Diagnosis Task Force.
 
The first order of business is bringing the right people from all over the state to the table to form the brand new committee.  Invitations to join the task force were sent in the first week of August to hospital and pre-hospital professionals statewide.  The first meeting is scheduled for late August.
