| The Case Statement |

Essential for every successful organization is the written plan, the very defining of that organization, known as the case statement. The case statement is a must for the launch of every new organization or program -- or for the refocusing or retooling of a mission -- and to assure the internal understanding of that mission or agenda among board members, management and staff. Not to be confused with a mission statement, the case statement says it all. And it is an organic document that grows and changes to reflect the progress of your organization. If you are operating without a case statement then you are attempting to sail a ship with missing sails, no chart and an unknown number of crew members who do not know your destination. If your organization was buried under thirty feet of lava and a thousand years later an archeologist discovered your location, he would be able to run your operation right where you left off -- so long as he discovered your case statement. It is the reference document that steers the course for why your organization exists and how it will achieve its goals. Give us a call to discuss this foundational need. It may be that you have a partially written plan or an old plan that needs revamping. You'll be surprised to see how many inconsistencies, misunderstandings and miscommunications are revealed and resolved within your organization by focusing on a properly created case statement. |
