LifeFlight Eagle TV Documentary to Air on KCPT Channel 19 PDF Print E-mail

LifeFlight Eagle recalls its beginning at Saint Joseph Health Center as the nation’s fifth air ambulance program, while highlighting lifesaving progress and advancement in medicine and technology.

Kansas City, Missouri -- December 7, 2005 -- LifeFlight Eagle announced today that its TV documentary film, LifeFlight Eagle – Yours, For Life, will air Thursday, December 22 at 8:30 pm on KCPT SceenTime on Channel 19.

The film was produced in 2005 as a way for LifeFlight Eagle to express its mission to the residents of its service area—a 150-mile radius around the Kansas City metro area.  Narrated by KMBC news reporter Emily Aylward and produced by ESPN Outdoors senior producer, Marty Dashiell, the film is exciting and informative.
“I am very impressed with the production and the light it sheds on the history, skills and training involved with this vital service.  It meshes perfectly with ScreenTime's mission to showcase locally made programs on Kansas City's only locally owned television station," said KCPT producer/host Randy Mason.

“The documentary tells our story which began at Saint Joseph Health Center in 1978,” says LifeFlight Eagle director of business development, Ruby Mehrer.  “We’re often seen flying overhead or taking off from an accident, but there’s more to LifeFlight Eagle than that.  We think people will enjoy the movie while learning some very valuable facts about their community air ambulance program.  Missourians and Kansans will be proud of their program.”

Families are encouraged to set aside the time to watch the program with their children.

“Kids simply love our helicopters,” says Mehrer.  “We don’t know when this show will be able to air again like this and we don’t want them to miss it.  We also use the film for those considering a career in the emergency medical world.  Watching and learning from the film could be a great start for some.”

“Our thanks go out to KCPT for giving LifeFlight Eagle this opportunity to communicate with the residents of our service,” Mehrer added.  “As a nonprofit organization, the mission is to save lives and the vision is community partnership—showing our documentary really helps to raise awareness.”

LifeFlight Eagle is the nonprofit air ambulance program serving western Missouri and eastern Kansas since 1978.  To date, LifeFlight Eagle has transported more than 36,000 patients to specialty care centers within a 150 mile radius of Kansas City including all hospitals in Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, Topeka, Des Moines and more.

Viewers are invited to visit LifeFlight Eagle’s membership website at www.mylfe.org to learn more about the program.
