LifeFlight Eagle Now Primary Kansas Service Provider

In Johnson, Miami, & Linn Counties

While LifeFlight Eagle has always provided service to residents of Kansas, it has generally been as a secondary air ambulance provider.

For years, another air ambulance was based in Johnson County, Kansas, and because of its proximity, was called first by area EMS and hospital staff to cover Johnson, Miami and Linn counties and the surrounding area. The other air ambulance company closed its base in Olathe making LifeFlight Eagle the primary provider for the region.
Crew members, staff and management team members have for several weeks been visiting the requesting agencies, ambulance companies, hospitals, 911 dispatch centers, police and fire, to get to know our now regular customers and to address the unique details of our program.

Recently, multiple landing zone training sessions were scheduled for Johnson County fire stations as well as Miami County EMS to familiarize ground crews with “hot loading” which means loading a patient onto an air craft that does not shut down once it lands.

For the sake of time and specifically because our Bell 407 Rolls Royce engines take longer to start and stop, LifeFlight Eagle pilots generally do not shut the engine down when picking patients up at scene calls like a motor vehicle accident. Our goal over the next several weeks will be to train all ground agencies in this method of patient pick-up to provide a level of understanding, comfort and safety for all involved.

LifeFlight Eagle Membership is of course being introduced more heavily in the area at this time so that families can participate in our plan which shields them from out-of-pocket cost should they need a flight with LifeFlight Eagle.

The Kansas region will rely predominantly on our Harrisonville base for transport coverage but our Blue Springs ship and others will always be readily available when needed.

We are encouraged by the warm reception we are getting from area agencies and media who are helping to spread the word about our service to the area and our membership program.
